Elta Fans Get on Track for Go Karting Project in Liverpool

10/03/16

Team Sport is Europe’s largest indoor karting operator, currently operating 17 race circuits across the UK with their most most recent addition opened in Liverpool in December 2015.

One of the client’s main objectives for the new building was to ensure the correct extract of CO2 produced by the petrol engines of the karts, so the installation of an appropriate ventilation system for the size of the enclosed space was critical.

East Lancashire Refrigeration Limited, in Blackburn, was chosen as the contractor and used Elta Fans Multiflow SEM in-line fans sourced through SK Sales, for the project

Specification

The Mutiflow SEM mixed flow, in-line fans were considered the perfect solution to meet the design criteria which required high volume air flow at a medium pressure.

Available from Elta Group Building Services, the Multiflow SEM series is part of Elta Select, a brand that offers one of the most extensive ranges of HVAC products on the market. With immediate availability from stock held at the company’s distribution centre in the West Midlands, the team at Elta are able to meet the short lead-time requirements of their extensive distributor network.

Alex Fletcher, branch manager of SK Sales said: “Five 630Ø extract fans and four 630Ø supply fans were supplied for installation on the project. We have a long standing relationship with Elta Fans and have every confidence in the integrity of their products and their ability to supply on a tight turnaround.”

The Multiflow SEM range offers exceptional efficiency over other in-line, axial and centrifugal fans currently available on the market, offering significant reductions in energy consumption and running costs. Their unique design and arrangement of impeller and aerodynamic guide vanes enables them to perform better than a typical conical style, fixed blade mixed flow fan whilst delivering lower noise levels than can be achieved with comparative centrifugal fans.

They have a shockproof, heat resistant, tough casing for added strength and durability and are quick and easy to install, with maintenance free motors, pre-wired to an integral IP44 terminal box. The rotating fan section allows the box to be installed at any angle without affecting the ductwork.

Darren Melvin from East Lancashire Refrigeration said “we have used this type of fan at other karting tracks on previous occasions, so were aware of their specification and knew that they would deliver the desired results.

“They are extremely versatile and are the only in-line type fans on the market that can give the air volume at the external static pressure that was required on this project”.

Completion

Darren Melvin commented: “The client is very pleased with the outcome of this installation and will be using Elta Group Building Services again for other Team Sport tracks currently in development.”
